Starting from the regions of Garhwal and Kumaon, it is collectively known as Uttarakhand earlier Uttaranchal. Uttarakhand is the land of railing hills and snow covered mountainsdivided by some of Hinduism most sacred rivers. The significant is River Ganga which rises at Gaumukh in the north of the state and get it way down to places by the pilgrimage centre of Rishikesh and Haridwar. Garhwal is the western portion of the state and Kumaon is in the eastern side. Every year thousands of pilgrims make yatra to the Garhwal mountains and the sacred Char Dham (Four Temples) i.e., Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath. The home to the Hindu Gods VIshnu and Shiva and the source of the holy Ganga and Yamuna River with more than 100 poats towering about 20,000 feets Uttarakhand’s Garhwal Mountain especially mountain Nanda Devi 26056 feet inspired climbers from all over the world. Trekkers are down to its natural centuries such as Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers surrounded by Glaciers and white capped mountains closed to the plains. Many people go to the Gim Corbett, Tiger Reserve and Raja Ji National Park. Uttaranchal now Uttarakhand was formally declared as separate state in Nov 09, 2000 with its capital Dehradun.

The former Portugal colony of Goa is the east India’s most famous destination. It is hard to tell where the coast ends and town begins in Goa. Goa has more than 36 gorgeous beaches down the west side of its 2995 sq miles. This tiny state in India is the most famous resort destination. Goa offers much more than Sun, Sand and Sea. Fenny made from cashew and coconut palm is a local favourite drink. Goa is known for fruits, grand Churches and temples. Goa’s Se Cathedral and Basilica of Bom Jesus where the remains of Saint Fransis Xavier are stored are very popular among the tourists.

Tourism in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal was formed in In the Himalayas, 1948 by bringing together 31 Small Princely States. Full statehood was achieved in 1971. The economy depends almost on agriculture and tourism. It is a trekking paradise. Apples are an important crop of Himachal Pradesh. During the mughal empire (1600 – 1700 Century) Basoli, Kangra, Guler developed as major centre of painting. After the fall of Mughal Empire, Maharaja Ranjit Singh brought the area under his control. In the 18th century, British took over the princely state in 1815. The British founded Shimla in 1819 as their summer head quarter. The major rivers in Himachal are Beas and Satluj. The Bhakra Nangal Dam across two rivers created the largest lake in the state since 1971.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to visit Himachal Pradesh is whole year. Himachal Pradesh is famous for adventure sports like mountaineering, paragliding, trekking, river rafting and etc.
Himachal means province in the lap of Snow.
Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh and is known as the Gateway to newly open district of Kinnaur Valley. Before independence, Shimla was most important hill station and serve as the Summer Capital of India. Located at a height of 2215 mts above sea level is it also known as Little England. Important places in Shimla are Himachal State Museum Library, Jakhu Temple, Viceregal Lodge and Botanical Garden and etc.

Places of Tourist Attraction in Himachal Pradesh

The places of tourist interest in Himachal Pradesh are as follows:

LAHAUL AND SPITI

The place is famous for Buddhist Monastries and is the largest districts in Himachal Pradesh.

KANGRA VALLEY

A number of interesting places are located like Baijnath – a pilgrimage centre, Palampur – a tea plantation town, Dharamsala and Kangra itself. In Kangra town Dharamsala, Temple of Brajeshwari and Kangra Fort are worth visiting.

KULLU

The Kullu has been popular place to visit and is famous for mountaineering nad trekking. It is located at the heart of Himachal Pradesh.

MANALI

At the northern end of Kullu Valley, it is located about 40 Kms away from Kullu. It offers facilities like mountaineering, trekking etc.

Jagat Sukh, Solang Valley, Rohtang Pass, are among the place of scenic beauty in Manali.

JAWALA MUKHI

It is one of the most sacred sites in Kangra Valley. The Temple is dedicated to Goddess of Light.

KINNAUR VALLEY

It is surrounded by the mountains. To the south area Garhwal Himalayas, to the east Central Himalayas of Tibet and to the north Zanskar Range. Important places in Kinnour Valley are Sangla, Kalpa, Reckong Peo and etc.

DHARAMSALA

It is the oldest hill station in Himachal Pradesh. It’s main attractions is Tibetian Arts Community of Dalai Lama. The places of tourist interest are Mcleodganj, Tsechokling Gompa, Bhagsunath Temple, Bhagsunath Waterfalls, St. John Church and etc.

McLEODGANJ

About 04 Kms from Dharamsala, it is a place of freindly Tibetian Monks. The name comes from the name of Donald Friell McLeod, who was the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab.

MANIKARAN

Manikaran is famous for its hot water spring. In sanskrit Manikaran means Jewel from the Sea. A famous Gurudwara is located here and is the famous pilgrimage place of sikhs.

DALHOUSIE

Dalhousie is a beautiful hill station full of scenic beauty and surrounded by snow capped mountains. It is a home to large Tibetian community. It was named after a British viceroy of colonial India, Lord Dalhousie.
